We have lab meetings once a week. These are sessions where everyone in the lab, plus our collaborators, exchange information about what’s going on for each project. We usually read a paper and discuss it. Recently, though, we’ve been working with our undergraduates on data analysis and methods of analysis. Today Paul Blischak led the session, giving the undergraduates a tutorial on basic methods of reconstructing phylogenies. This will be a series of several sessions. Today’s topic was distance-based trees and parsimony analysis.
