Arthropods like this Assassin Bug (Zelus luridus) are fascinating creatures that live right beside us, but we rarely spare them a thought.

Arthropods are the most prolific and diverse group of animals on Earth, making up nearly half of all described species[1] and inhabiting every corner of the planet from high mountains, to ocean depths, to your own backyard. Despite their ubiquity, many people are ill-informed about our tiny neighbors and pay them small mind or worse, actively try to kill them. The truth is, arthropods play critical roles in our environment and impact our lives everyday. By learning about them we can better appreciate these fascinating creatures and give them the respect they deserve.
